The President, Goodluck Jonathan, is set to pay a visit to Kano State, leading to an immense tightening of security in the area.
Nigerian troops have reportedly taken over major streets in the commercial city of Kano this Saturday ahead of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Combat ready anti-riot policemen and men from Department of State Security Services were also seen in their large numbers on the streets.
The visit of Mr. President to the ancient city coincides with the annual Maulud celebration by the Quadriyya sect that involves large procession of faithful.
The appearance of the military squads are all to ensure that the visit of the President goes smoothly and hitch free.
