The Tiv Community in Jos on Sunday turned to God in prayers over recent attacks on communities in Benue State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen which have left many persons dead.

The community which congregated at NKST church in Jos prayed fervently to God to bring the heinous killings to an end and save the remnant of Benue people.

Rev Solomon Igyor, who led the congregation into the prayer session, urged Christians across the country to use prayers as a weapon to fight the dreaded Boko Haram and other attacks threatening the peace of the country.

Suspected fulani herdsmen have been terrorizing people in Benue and Plateau state over the past few years, but had started a serious onslaught earlier in the year which got worse everytime they killed and no one did anything about it.

Despite the heavy presence of security forces in some of the area where these attacks were perpetrated, no records of arrest have matched the frequency of attacks.

The country also suffers attacks in the hands of Islamist sect Boko Haram whose wanton destruction of lives and property has only increased in the past five years of the insurgency.
