Akwa United continued with their 100% start to the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season by welcoming Nembe City to the top flight with a 2-0 win at the Uyo Township stadium on Sunday.
Ukeme Davies and Ubong Ekpai scored the goals as City got off to a losing start on Match Day 5 after being provisionally cleared to participate in the ongoing campaign by the League Management Company.
The win means United have now recorded 11 points from a possible 15, and maintains a 2-point lead ahead of FC Taraba, who downed Enyimba also on Sunday.

Six-time champions Enyimba international FC lost their second successive matches at the Jolly Nyame Stadium to new boys FC Taraba.
Bobby Abel scored in the opening 20 minutes of the tie- his second goal this season.
Wolves 2-0 Giwa
Gbolahan Salami and Augustine Amutu opened their goalscoring account for Warri Wolves as they dominated newly promoted Giwa FC.
It was Giwa FC’s first loss of the season on the back of their 1-0 win over Enugu Rangers in the midweek, following re-admittance into the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Heartland 0-0 Nasarawa
Heartland FC have now failed to register a win in five matches, after ending their third fixture at their Dan Anyiam Stadium in stalemate.
Nasarawa United forced the Oriental club to a 0-0 draw on Sunday, leaving Heartland with just three points from five games.
