President Goodluck Jonathan has attributed the longevity of 100-year-old Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana to clean mind, good character, clear conscience and good record of service.
Speaking yesterday as he joined other well-wishers at the Monatan residence of the monarch to congratulate him on his centenary birthday, President Jonathan apologised for not being with the monarch on Monday, his birthday, saying it was because of the unfortunate bomb blast at Nyanyan, Abuja which led to the loss of over 70 lives.
While praying for more prosperous years ahead, he said his representative at the thanksgiving service on Monday had delivered his birthday message.
He described Olubadan as a very unique monarch being one of the very few around who were born when the Northern and Southern Protectorates were amalgamated.
Jonathan and his entourage sang for the celebrant and thereafter cut the birthday cake.
On the entourage of the President were the Senate President, Senator David Mark, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, Deputy Senate Whip, Hosea Agboola, Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Governor of Oyo State, former Senate leader, Teslim Folarin, Minister of State, FCT, Mrs. Jumoke Akinjide and others.
