Lagos State police command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the development, according to The Nigerian Tribune, adding that investigation was ongoing and the parent, Obiefule and his wife were already in police custody and are being interrogated.

According to an eyewitness, on May 26, when Onyedikachi was beaten to death, Obiefule was alleged to have taken him to hospital for treatment after the boy fainted, due to excessive beatings from the father. He later claimed that the boy was being treated at an undisclosed hospital.

However, the next morning suspicious neighbours, who were not satisfied about the answers given them on the whereabouts of the little boy, confronted Obiefule’s wife and alerted the police.

When the police got to the home of the Obiefules, the corpse of Onyedikachi was allegedly discovered under the bed.

The policemen arrested the couple and took them and the corpse to the station.

In another incident, Mr Bright, beat his son to death with an iron belt for allegedly stealing N1,000.

The incident happened at 6, Olarenwaju Street, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday.
