Ex-Nigeria international, Sani Kaita, insists Sharks FC does not have what it takes to win the Glo Premier League season.
The 28-year-old marked his debut for six-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba FC on Wednesday, in a 1-1 draw with the ‘Blue Angels’.
“I thank God. I am really happy to be back,” Kaita told supersport.com. “I am happy with my debut.
The ‘People’s Elephant’ fought back from a goal down to claim a point at the Sharks Stadium.
Ajani Ibrahim headed Sharks into the lead on 16 minutes but Andrew Abalogu leveled for Enyimba 20 minutes later.
Kaita added: “My teammates worked hard (for the point). The team played well. I thank the coaches for the confidence they showed in me.
“I wanted us to win the match but to get a point against a difficult side like Sharks was important.”
The draw couldn’t deter coach Gbenga Ogungbote’s men from retaining the pole position of the Nigeria league, but the experienced midfielder does not expect the Port-Harcourt-based side to deal with the title run-in pressure when the finally surfaces.
“I think they (Sharks) have a good team but I don’t think they are strong enough to win the title. For one, I believe Enyimba is better than the Sharks team we played against yesterday (Wednesday),” he said.
Sharks are top of the league with 19 points from 11 matches, four points ahead of Enyimba, who sits sixth in the table.
