Colombia Oust Uruguay Into Last 8

James Rodriguez scored twice to help Colombia reach the quarter-finals of the 2014 Fifa World Cup, where they will face host nation Brazil.

The Monaco forward opened scoring with a superb volley from 25 yards which crashed in off the bar two minutes to the half-hour mark.

Rodriguez, 22, then finished off a superb team move on 50 minutes, firing home from close range for his fifth goal of the tournament.

Uruguay, who were without the suspended Luis Suarez, battled to pose any real threat at the Colombians goal.

The South American champions came close to reducing the deficit but Maxi Pereira’s half-volley from close range sailed straight to the onrushing goalkeeper David Ospina.

Ospina also saved a long-range strike from Edinson Cavani as Colombia held on to a convincing win.
