The Kano State Police Commissioner, Adenrele Shinaba, has said that eight persons were killed and 12 others sustained various degrees of injuries in Monday’s bomb blast at the School of Hygiene in Kano.
He said the blast occurred at about 2:05p.m.
The School of Hygiene, located along Bayero University Kano, BUK, road in Kano, has suffered similar attacks in the past.
Speaking with journalists at the scene of the attack, the police chief disclosed that one suspect was arrested in connection with the blast.
“The suspect is in our custody, and the vehicle he used for the operation has also been towed to the police headquarters. We will get to know the motive behind the attack, and who sent him on this deadly errand”, he said
He said further information would be provided in the course of the investigation of the incident.
Meanwhile, no group has claimed responsibility yet for the blast although it bears semblance to attacks carried out in the past by Boko Haram insurgents in Kano and other northern states.
