The immediate past national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, yesterday told a group campaigning for President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition in 2015, to match talks with deeds.
Tukur, who spoke when the group, Goodluck Solidarity Mandate (GSM), paid him a courtesy call at his Wuse residence in Abuja, said when a person is elected president of the country, everybody owns a duty to support him stressing that if followers support their leaders, they will be sure of holding them accountable.
“Jonathan is the one, support him and ensure that peace reign, ensure we succeed because we are the majority. Because of that, we have to come together, unite ourselves to ensure that 2015 by the grace of God, because of his good transformation agenda, we give him a second term he is entitled to by even the constitution of our country, it is our right”, he said.
The ex-PDP chairman, who was recently appointed ‘Ambassador-at-Large’ by the president, noted that without peace, leaders cannot carry out whatever good intention they have for themselves and for the people, stressing that there is every need to support Jonathan’s transformation agenda.
“If you don’t support your leader who is leading you in the country, you cannot also demand from him what you believe he should do for you”, he stated.
Earlier, national coordinator of the group, Olusegun Akinbodewa, who led state leaders of the group to the event, said the group’s target is to capture the south-west for President Goodluck Jonathan.
