Former military administrator of Lagos and Borno States and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Brig-Gen. Muhammadu Buba Marwa (rtd) has declared his intention to contest the forthcoming Adamawa State governorship election following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako and ‘resignation’ of his deputy, Bala James Ngillari.
Marwa, who made the declaration at the Conference Hall of Lelewal Motel in Yola, the state capital yesterday, took time to tell the delegates and party leaders of Adamawa Central Senatorial District his reasons for joining the race again after failing in previous attempts.
He said, “You are aware of the development in our state as the governor was impeached while his deputy had resigned and the speaker is acting governor necessitating the conduct of an election in the next three months as stipulated by the constitution”.
But in a swift reaction, another PDP chieftain in the state and a former gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Umar Ardo, has declared the aspiration of Marwa null and void, saying the party will never accept his aspiration as he remains a fugitive and prodigal son having defected to the Congress for Progressive Change, which later became APC, before defecting back to the party recently.
Ardo said the party’s constitution was clear on people who defected out of the party and later returned, saying such a party member would have to wait for a year before been eligible to contest for any office or has to be given waiver.
Yes Ardo is right, Marwa should go & sit down for where contain him,he should knw that fight & run away must surely fight anoder day
