A coalition of civil society organisations, CSOs, in Abuja have flayed the allegations of terrorism leveled against Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, saying the governor is a man with respect for all religions, including the adherents of African traditional religion.
Speaking at a media parley yesterday, the group also condemned alleged plans by the authorities to deploy the military in Osun State for the governorship election slated for August 9.
National Coordinator, International Network against Corruption, Musa Mohammed and Chairman, Coalition for Civil Society Groups, David Ikem, both extolled the virtues of Aregbesola, stressing he is a leader that is committed to the unity of the country.
On the issues addressed, the Coalition said, “After thorough investigation on the allegation against the governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, linking him with terrorism and sponsoring the most dreaded group in Nigeria today, the Boko Haram, we wish to state very categorically thus: The allegation is without facts, untrue and unwarranted, therefore should be discarded.
“The allegation is an outright expression of core hatred, maligning, envy and jealousy by the enemies of government that mean no well for the people of Osun State”.
