Real Madrid has confirmed the signing of James Rodriguez from Monaco for an undisclosed fee.
The Colombian World Cup star, 23, who joined Monaco from Porto in a deal worth £21.5m in May 2013, opted out of his five year deal with the Principality club to become the European champions’ second major recruit of the summer.
He will put pen to the dotted lines for a six-year contract and will be presented to the fans at the Santiago Bernebeu’s Presidential Box before treating the media’s questions later on Tuesday.
“Real Madrid C. F. have reached an agreement with AS Mónaco FC to buy James Rodríguez, who will join the club for the next six seasons,” read the club’s statement.
Reports were rife in the early hours of Tuesday that a deal- believed to worth €75m (£59m)- for the2014 World Cup finals top goal scorer will be finalised later in the day.

Rodriguez’s five strikes in Brazil helped Colombia reach the quarter-finals, where they eventually lost to the hosts.
The Cucuta-born winger ended his debut Ligue 1 season without a silverware but helped Monaco claim a Uefa Champions League slot for the forthcoming season, scoring a total of 10 goals in 38 matches as well as providing 12 assists- the second highest in the French top division.
He becomes Real’s second signing of the summer, following the arrival of Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich.
