Immediate past Governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and three other ministerial nominees, are scheduled to appear before the Senate in plenary for screening this week, Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) has said.
Ndoma-Egba, who made the disclosure yesterday in a chat with Daily Trust in Abuja, said the nominees are likely to be screened within the week following completion of their documentation.
The former governor was nominated as a minister alongside three others on June 4 by President Goodluck Jonathan and there are unconfirmed reports that he might be posted to the Ministry of Education, which was left vacant following the sack of Professor Ruqayyatu Rufai, among other ministers, last year.
The other nominees, slated to appear before the Senators this week include Dr. Abdul Bulama from Yobe State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye from Ekiti State and Steven Oruh representing Delta State.
The president is also expected to forward the nomination of two more candidates to complete the number in the Federal Executive Council.
