Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu can now heave a sigh of great relief as the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday granted him waiver to contest the September 6 governorship primary election.
Former military administrator of Lagos state, Buba Marwa and Markus Gundiri were also granted waiver.
The party urged its members in the state to decide who would be their governorship candidate, stating that as far as it is concerned, it is only the delegates to the September 6 governorship primary election that would decide who would be the governorship candidate of the PDP.
The statement by the party is apparently aimed at dismissing claims that the former EFCC chief has been anointed the party’s candidate by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The claim also made South South leader, Chief Edwin Clark warn the party against granting Ribadu waiver as he said granting a waiver to Ribadu to contest the party’s governorship primaries in Adamawa State would amount to a serious conspiracy against the President, since the former EFCC chairman had no electoral value.
