Boko Haram: S/East, S/South ACF Call For Review Of Military Strategy

boko-haram-Abubakar ShekauThe South-south and South-east coordinator of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Alhaji Musa Saidu, has condemned the recent purported hoisting of Boko Haram flags in some some communities and called on the military to review its strategy.

Alhaji Musa, who spoke to Daily Trust in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said that it is worrisome that insurgents overwhelm the military, capture communities and hoist their flag, adding that the only solution to the problem is a change in the military’s operational strategy.

He also called on the federal government to properly equip the military to enable them perform optimally.

“The way things are going in the North-east is very worrisome. The military should change their operational strategy, because the one in place is not working. Residents of the affected communities should synergies with the military to fight the insurgents by providing information. We appeal to government to do more in the fight against insurgency, because at the moment, soldiers are not motivated enough to tackle the situation”, he said.

He added: “Capturing of communities in the North by Boko Haram is not portraying our military in good light. We cannot rely on foreign countries to fight for us. Government should put more efforts in the fight. It is unprofessional for soldiers to mutiny, but the problem is that they are poorly motivated. The Chief of Army Staff should provide weapons that can match that of the insurgents”.

He also called on members of the Boko Haram sect to sheath their swords and embrace peace.
