Police Arrest Two For Stealing 62 Cows From Abba Moro Farm In Benue

cowsTwo suspected cattle rustlers have been arrested by the Benue State Police Command for stealing 62 cows from a farm belonging to the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, in Ugbokolo.

Addressing newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Daniel Ezeala, said the suspected rustlers – Babangida Saidu and Adamu Alhaji – last Friday stormed the Abba Moro Farm in Ugbokolo and carted away 63 cows at gun point after they shot to scare away the security men.

The gunshots attracted the police who mobilised and gave the gunmen a hot chase, leading to an exchange of gunfire with the robbers.

They were later overpowered and the cows retrieved from them at Aliade in Gwer Local Government Area.

According to the police spokesman, Saidu hails from Suleja in Niger State while Alhaji is from Igumale in Ado local government area of Benue State.

He said a locally made pistol was recovered from the suspects while others escaped.

The suspects, he said, would be charged to court.
