Former Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda has signed a one-year contract, with an option for a second season, at French Ligue 1 club Metz.
The ex-France international, 34, joins Metz on a free transfer after leaving Turkish side Trabzonspor in August due to a disagreement with manager Vahid Halilhodzic.
“Metz is a historic club with a presitigious past,” said Malouda, who was born in Cayenne, French Guiana.
“I felt a real ambition at the club, there’s a real coherence in their project.”
Malouda began his career in 1997 with Chateauroux before joining Brittany side Guincamp. He signed for Lyon in 2003 and then moved to Chelsea in 2007, staying six years at Stamford Bridge before transferring to Turkey.
He won 80 caps for France between 2004 and 2012, playing in two Fifa World Cups and two Uefa European championships.
