Bayer Leverkusen will be without their influential captain, Simon Rolfes, who did an operation on his right ankle on Wednesday, for several weeks
The 32-year-old German defensive midfielder tore ligaments in the ankle during his side’s 4-2 win over Hertha Berlin last Saturday.
“It is very frustrating obviously but I will do everything I can to return as quickly as possible,” said Rolfes, who has played in all five of the club’s official matches this season.
Leverkusen currently top the German Bundesliga with three wins out of three- the only side yer to drop points this season.
