Sokoto PDP Cautions Wamakko Over Spending State’s Resources On Hosting APC Zonal Rally

Sokoto-State-Governor-Aliyu-WamakkoThe Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the state governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, over what the party described as squandering of the state’s lean resources on the planned rally by the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Sokoto, scheduled to hold September 8.

In a press statement yesterday, chairman of the party, Alh Ibrahim Milgoma, warned the governor to desist from spending scarce resources belonging to people of the state in hosting the APC North-West zonal rally.

He wondered why it was only the Sokoto state governor out of the three APC governors in the zone, namely Kano and Zamfara that always takes financial responsibility for the party’s programmes. He recalled that Wamakko chaired the APC convention recently in Abuja, hosted the North-West meeting of the party in Kaduna and is now about to host another programme of the party in Sokoto.

The PDP chairman said the party was aware that each of the 23 LGAs in the state have been instructed to bring to the rally 5000 people, who will be paid N1000 each for feeding.

“Thus on feeding alone, the 23 local government councils will expend the sum of N115, 000, 000. This when added to the cost of hiring vehicles to convey people to the venue will shoot the figure to over N300 million on the part of the local governments alone.

“The state on its part is going to spend huge sums of money on venue, the media, entertainment and accommodation of dignitaries from the eight states in the zone. The cost of this activity will therefore be enormous on the state”, Milgoma said.
