Audu Ogbeh Apologises To BringBackOurGirls Group Over APC Synergy Comment

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has apologized to the BringBackOurGirls group for presenting it as an APC sub-group.

Ogbe had at last Wednesday’s presidential declaration of General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) praised the presence of some leaders of the group at the event as a sign of synergy between APC and the group.

Officials of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was quick to take up his assertion saying it lays credence to claims that the group’s advocacy for the return of the 219 Chibok schoolgirls held in captivity by the Boko Haram Islamist group had a political undertone.

Subsequently, former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, one of the group’s leaders, dismissed Ogbeh’s claim. She said she was not a member of any political party and that the group’s efforts were wholly altruistic.

Ogbeh in a letter to the leadership of the group, dated October 20 however affirmed that he had since realised that APC members formed less than two percent of the group’s membership.

“Dear patriots, I feel obliged to let you know that my statement at our function last week was not intended to paint your group as an APC sub-group.

“This is because from what we know, less than two percent of the group are our party members, but members we value highly.

“The rest of you are not and may not even belong to any political association whatsoever.

“If my statement caused you any discomfort, I do apologize, but reiterate that I have nothing but respect and admiration for you for keeping a six-month vigil and telling the world that the Nigerian conscience is not entirely dead.

“The world is watching us and making judgments. I wish you God’s blessings and protection,” he wrote.

  1. This is nothing but story for the gods. He should stop fooling himself by telling us lies. How can he say he just realised that they no more APC members. They should stop using everything for political gain.
