Gareth Bale is doubtful for Real Madrid Champions League game at Liverpool on Wednesday having pulled his right gluteus muscle.
The European champions, in a short statement on Tuesday, said the forward “has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the right pyramidalis muscle”- the point where the thigh meets the pelvis.
It statement added it will monitor Bale’s progress over the next few hours and they are not expected to stretch the Welshman, especially with the ‘El Clasico’ against leaders Barcelona due for next weekend.
Bale was an unused substitute in Real’s 5-0 win over Levante at the weekend and did not train with his team-mates at the Valdebebas on Sunday.

He could again start from the bench at Anfield or, even hang behind in Madrid
