The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, Thursday, advised President Goodluck Jonathan to openly declare his assets instead of issuing threats over a publication by an online medium, which listed him as the sixth richest African President.
A website – RichestLifestyle.com – had placed Jonathan sixth on a list of nine richest African presidents in 2014 with an estimated net worth of $100 million. The Presidency has since denounced the report while asking the publishers to retract it and apologize or risk legal action.
But the National Publicity Secretary of CNPP, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, who gave the advice while reacting to the development, said: “Open declaration has become imperative to prove beyond reasonable doubt that President Jonathan is unconnected with the malfeasance of his subordinates.
“CNPP for the umpteenth time challenges President Goodluck Jonathan to as a matter of urgent national importance declare his assets openly”.
