Elmohamady Pulls Out of Egypt’s Squad

Hull City’s Ahmed Elmohamady has withdrawn from Egypt’s squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers citing injury.

Local reports suggests the 27-year-old is among four players coach Shawky Gharib has deemed unfit for their crunch double-header against Botswana.

Egypt face a make or mar trip to Botswana on Friday before entertaining the same side on Wednesday in Cairo.

It is yet unclear the nature of Elmohamady’s injury, which is thought to relate to a complications suffered in the ‘Tigers’s’ 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The winger was replaced on the nick of half-time by Alex Bruce after injuring both his arm and back during the first half.

City will monitor his fitness upon his return to East Yorkshire in the coming days and are hopeful he will be fit enough to face Arsenal in their upcoming game.
