Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) Cross River State Chapter, Hon. Cletus Obun, has described as treasonable comments by the Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGoF), Professor Peter Nwilo on the controversy surrounding the boundary between Nigeria and Cameroun in the central part of the state.
Nwilo had Monday said Bakassi belonged to Cameroon.
According to him, “Bakassi was more or less part of what they called Southern Cameroon.
“I know that the available facts did not weigh in favour of Nigeria … the facts they (Cameroon) had at their disposal did not favour Nigeria and that was why we lost it (Bakassi).”
Obun however believes such statement was wrong to have come from such a top official as the Surveyor General against his own country.
