Schalke 04 Suffer Draxler Injury Blow

Schalke have confirmed Julian Draxler requires surgery on a hamstring injury, which will rule him out until New Year.

The attacking midfielder suffered the injury during Friday’s German Bundesliga win at home to Augsburg. The club announced on Monday further tests has revealed a partial tear in his right hamstring.

Draxler has travelled to Stuttgart for an operation and the eighth placed Bundesliga side has revealed he would be sidelined for the rest of the year.

Roberto Di Matteo’s men are second in Group G of the Uefa Champions League, two points behind leaders Chelsea and face a trip to Portugal where they will play Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday.
