The immediate past Minister of Labour and Productivity and governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Chief Emeka Wogu, has promised to build a power plant in Owaza, Ukwa West council area of the state.
He disclosed this while commissioning a borehole he constructed for the community. He lamented that despite being an oil producing community, Owaza had no reliable power supply.
He therefore promised his supporters that he would upgrade the community to the status of an oil producing community if he emerged governor.
“This water project is my modest contribution to reduce the sufferings of the people. I want to tell you that I know the problems of the community. A lot is being taken from you with nothing in return. You don’t have electricity and water. If I become governor, I will upgrade Owaza to the status befitting an oil producing community.
“Owaza will compete favourably with Warri and other oil producing areas. Asa deserves a gas plant; I will also build a power plant in Owaza to boost power supply,” he said.
A PDP House of Representatives aspirant for Ukwa federal constituency, Chief Eletuo Anselm who spoke at the event commended Wogu for his love for the less privileged, describing him as the right person to vote in 2015.
