Mark Mentors failed to progress into the quarter finals of the ongoing Fiba Africa Championship Cup for Men (ACCM) after losing its last group game on Tuesday in Tunis, Tunisia.
Nigeria’s sole representative at the final round of the 29th edition of the ACCM Mentors lost to DR Congo side BC Mazembe on Day 5 of the championship to finish fifth in Group B.
Mazembe defeated Mentor 69-66 to claim the pool’s last (4th) qualification slot for the quarter-finals of the championship.
Mentors, who also lost to Union Sportive Monastir 65-76 in their penultimate group game on Monday, ended the ACCM with a 1-4 (win-loss) record after their opening win over winless Abidjan Basket Club of Cote d’Ivoire.
Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) league champions Kano Pillars withdrew from the championship owing to financial constraints and logistics.
