Cameroon Midfielder Nguemo Joins Saint Etienne

Free agent Landry Nguemo has joined Saint Etienne until the end of the season, the French club announced on Friday.

The Cameroon international midfielder was without a club since leaving another Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux at the end of last season.

His initial plans to join Lens fell through as the newly-promoted side were prevented from signing new players.

Nguemo has 42 Cameroon caps and has scored three times. His solitary appearance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup came against hosts Brazil, playing the full 90 minutes in his side’s 4-1 defeat.

He began his career at Nancy before joining Bordeaux in 2011, just after a loan spell at Scottish giants Celtic. He is expected to be eligible for Sunday’s trip to Rennes.
