A meeting between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan and former President, which many hoped would end the frosty relationship between them did not end as expected, indications have emerged.
President Jonathan and other top leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were said to have requested for the meeting, but were disappointed by the outcome of the meeting, which reportedly had two clergy men; Pastor E.A. Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo, who Obasanjo was said to have deliberately craved their attendance as witnesses. He wanted them to see that it was Jonathan who actually caused the rift between them by reneging on decisions they jointly reached.
The source also told Vanguard that Obasanjo was irked by last Sunday’s statement in which Jonathan referred to some elder statesmen as behaving like ‘motor park touts’. He was said to have opened up to all present at the meeting that he had invited Jonathan to ask him whether he had been honest with him and those he had assured he would run for a single term, if they supported him to win the last election.
“…the truth of the matter is that Baba has not shifted grounds on any issue since he feels that Jonathan has not been fair to him by not adhering to any of the previous agreements reached with him,” the source told Vanguard.
“What really irked Baba is the reference by Jonathan to some Nigerian elder statesmen as behaving as ‘motor park touts’ a day before begging him to grant him audience in Abeokuta.
“The man really feels insulted by such unfortunate outburst from the president of a country.
“There was no need to enter into any peace deal with Jonathan because similar deals done in the past only resulted in more attacks by him and his aides on Baba only for them to come begging for forgiveness once it is close to election.”
The meeting was said to have lasted about three hours.
mr president u should forget about obasanjo and concetrate on election strugle,because obasanjo is not ur God neither the God of nigeria, common sense should tell u guys that the early u stop the godfatherism standard of a thing is the better for all of us is this country! why is every politician seeking for his endorsement is he a God? u guys are gradually becoming an embarassment to the nigerian politics for christ sake!!!
Is obasanjo God? And why does he always stick to things? Never forgives. I learnt he is studying theology, hasn’t he learnt about forgiveness?
What is all this OBJ self glorification and megalomania about? Did he not reneg on his Mandela option agreement in 2003? Make we hear word jare.
Mr. President, leave baba OBJ alone! He does not know that God used him to restructure Nigeria from the stranglehold of the Caliphate and he wants to destroy what he laboured to build due to pettiness. Pls concentrate on dealing decisively on wiping out boko haram within the next two weeks. By God’s grace, you’ll have your 2nd term. Afterall, OBJ had his own.
Why are we always talking of the first term agreement? Have we ask ourselves why should there be such agrreement in the first place. The people concern should tell us the hidden truth about the first term agreement. GEJ have told them to bring the document of such agreement and they are hiding it. So there is no such agreement and our leaders should stop using it against GEJ.
This Gorilla known as Baba OBJ is a joker! Anyway,I don’t see his fault but that of GEJ that was dumb and couldn’t repply him with few quedtions too viz: one, Baba did u only serve one tern? Secondly, didn’t you violated even the cinstitutional agreement that only permits two terms and even planned a fail third term agenda? Thirdly,is there any agreement that siperceeds the constitution of rhis country? Pls, GEJ and your team shouldn’t for any reason go to that ota man that thinks Nigeria belongs to him. After all, even in his Ota farm,how supporters does Baba Gorilla have? If na cultism, GEJ,you no get your own group? Why Baba baba baba alll the time! Where was him when Amosun unseated his PDP governorship candidate in the last election even as he was the Board of trustee chairman of the PDP then. Abeg give me chance make I go sleep, sakara man.
