Flying Eagles To Name Final AYC Squad This Week

Nigeria Under-20 national team are to submit a final 21-man squad for the 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) to the Confederation of African Football (Caf) by midnight of Thursday, officials have disclosed.

Belgium-based defender Wilfred Ndidi and Christian Pyagbara were the latest addition to the squad, raising the numbers of players currently in camp to 28.

Dolphins FC new signing Pyagbara linked up with the Flying Eagles in Abuja on their return from a week-long training tour of Ghana, where they played two warm-up matches against the Black Satellites. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are waiting on Belgian club Genk over the release of their winter recruit Ndidi for the AYC.

The Eagles are expected to fly out for another tour ahead of the 19th AYC, which is scheduled for Dakar, Senegal from 8 March through 22.

Nigeria will play hosts Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo in next month’s AYC finals.
