The Borno State police command in collaboration with troops from the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, have discovered and demobilized 147 bombs on the outskirts of the state capital.
The bombs were to have been used by the Boko Haram to attack the state capital.
It would be recalled that a similar discovery was made near Yola, the Adamawa State capital last Friday, when 119 high caliber bombs, which the police said just one of it, was powerful enough to destroy a 10-storey building, were found hidden in a bush.
Speaking with journalists yesterday, the Borno Police Commissioner, Adoda Clement, said the bombs were recovered about two kilometers from Auno village near Jakana, Konduga LGA by a combined team of policemen with troops attached to Jakana general area, led by one Captain Daniel Yakubu.
Jakana is 10 kilometers west of Maiduguri along Damaturu road. It was through the area that Boko Haram insurgents attempted taking over Maiduguri on January 1.
