The Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Reng Ochekpe, yesterday denied speculations that the federal government was planning to slash salaries of workers due to the crash in oil prices.
Speaking during an interactive session with heads of federal parastatals and agencies in Plateau State, the minister cautioned against insinuations that do not edify the country, saying, “Nigeria is moving forward under President Goodluck Jonathan. Our economy is growing and we should not run down our country with what we say”.
According to Ochekpe, President Jonathan was pre-occupied with what would advance the cause of civil servants and other Nigerians and not what would weigh them down, adding, “President Jonathan appreciates all civil servants in the country and a lot of reforms and programmes have been carried out by him to transform the country. The president’s achievements in moving the economy forward is prompting support groups to clamour for his return to power”.
