Crystal Palace’s Jedinak Gets 4-Match Ban

Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak has received a four-match ban after accepting a Football Association (FA) charge of violent conduct.

The Palace and Australia captain received the FA sanction on Monday for elbowing West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho in the closing minutes of Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Upton Park.

The match officials missed the incident, which was caught on video- prompting the FA to take retrospective action.

A three-man panel reviewed footage of the game and unanimously agreed Jedinak should have been sent off.

The 30-year-old’s ban begins with immediate effect, meaning he will miss Tuesday night’s Premier League trip to Southampton. He will also miss home games against QPR and Manchester City and away match at Stoke City.

The usual punishment for violent conduct is a three-match suspension, but Jedinak incurred an extra game in addition because he has already been sent off this season.
