Nigeria international Moses Simon is one of five players nominated for the Ebony Award for the best African player in Belgium this season.
The 19-year-old forward is pitted against DR Congo stars Neeskens Kebano, Chansel Mbemba, Youri Tielemans as well as Kara Mbodj from Senegal.
The winner of the award will be announced on 11 May.
Simon has hit the ground running since joining KAA Gent from Slovakian club AS Trencin in the winter, scoring six goals in seven matches.
His impressive form earned him a full international call-up in last month’s friendly against Uganda and also a recall to the Nigeria U-20 team, ahead of next month’s Fifa U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
Celestine Babayaro and Daniel Amokachi are other Nigerians who have won the award in the past.
