Paris St Germain defender Thiago Silva will definitely not feature in his side’s Champions League last 8 return leg tie against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Silva was substituted in the 21st minute of his side’s 3-1 defeat by Barcelona at the Parc des Princes with a problem in his left leg following a collision with Jordi Alba.
PSG confirmed in a statement on Monday that the Ligue 1 leaders’ captain, who had hoped to recuperate in time for the Camp Nou decider, will eventually not join the flight to Spain.
“As a result the PSG captain will continue to work at the Ooredoo training complex to better prepare for his return to the playing field,” the statement added.
Thiago’s fellow Brazilian David Luiz was rushed into an early return from injury in the first leg and is expected to spearhead PSG’s defence in Spain.
