Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is available for Saturday’s La Liga game against Eibar as his one-match suspension has been “rescinded”.
The Portuguese winger was booked for diving in the 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano in the midweek, taking his yellow card tally this season to six, which could have translated into an automatic suspension.
But replay suggests the reigning Fifa Ballon d’Or holder should have been awarded a penalty for being impeded in the area by defender Antonio Amaya.
The Madrid giants appealed against the booking and the Spanish football federation (RFEF) has sustained the club’s argument.
“The RFEF competition committee has upheld the appeal submitted by Real Madrid against the yellow card shown to Cristiano Ronaldo in the match against Rayo Vallecano, agreeing to “rescind the caution imposed on the player by the referee,” the Spanish football club said in a statement.
“The forward will therefore be eligible to play in the La Liga matchday 31 game against Eibar.”
