Guber Elections Took Place In Rivers, A/Ibom States – PDPGF Insists

electionsThe Peoples Democratic Party’s Governors Forum, PDPGF, has debunked the insinuation in some quarters that governorship elections did not hold in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States during the last elections.

The Forum insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission had already said that elections were held in the two states and that the PDP won.

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidates in the two states are however, contesting the PDP victory at the Election Petition Tribunals, where they’re arguing that figures were merely allocated to the eventual winners without proper election conducted.

But the PDPGF, in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday and signed by the Coordinator of the Forum, Mr. Osaro Onaiwu, said that INEC, which is the legally authorized agency that conducts elections in the country, had already said that after investigations that credible elections were held in Rivers State.

The Forum also said the outcome of the Akwa Ibom governorship election should not come as a surprise to anyone as the last PDP governor, Godswill Akpabio, performed well and that the people of the state had no reason to change course.

The statement, therefore, called on the security agencies to rein in on these groups claiming elections did not hold, saying that their utterances were capable of disrupting the existing peace.

It also decried the boast of the APC to take both Akwa Ibom and Rivers States through the electoral tribunal, noting that “the only attraction for the APC is what they perceive as the premium revenues of the two states”.

The governors in the statement, also declared that any attempt to take the states through the back door will be stiffly resisted by their party (the PDP).

It, therefore, enjoined citizens of both states to protect their states from those which it described as desperate political vultures that might not mean well for them.
