I Am Tinubu’s Boy But I Won’t Mislead Him Over Bukola Saraki

Bukola Saraki

Journalist/Publisher, Dele Momodu is not one of the allies of the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who are against the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate just because the former Lagos State governor does not.

Momodu wondered why Saraki is being criticized for seeking the support of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure his victory. “When he left PDP, it was ok, when he seeks their support for self not ok!”

He said he represents no interest but fair play and would not allow his closeness to Tinubu cloud his judgement.

“I’m a Tinubu boy more than most but won’t join them in misleading our Master Asiwaju!” he wrote on Twitter.

Momodu reminded Nigerians that a similar situation happened at the beginning of the 7th National Assembly when Aminu Tambuwal was favoured in the House against the candidate favoured by the PDP. “PDP didn’t cry like this when Tambuwal was supported against candidate favoured by party,” he noted.

The journalist asked that people stopped criticizing Saraki as there was nothing wrong in what he did. “Saraki didn’t sell out, he only scored more votes while others were busy cooking their chicanery elsewhere!”

Saraki had snubbed a mock election organized by the APC where Ahmed Lawan emerged as the party’s preferred candidate. However, an alliance with the 49 elected members of the Senate from the PDP ensured that the former Kwara State governor won the Senate presidency, to the chagrin of party chiefs.

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Saraki and has promised to work with him. But the party’s opinion differs.
