Three political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conscience Party (NCP) are set to take part in tomorrow’s bye-election for the Katsina Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives.
The seat became vacant following the death of Sheik Umar Abubakar of the APC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s National Commissioner in charge of Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States, Ambassador Ahmad Muhammad Wali, stated this at a stakeholders meeting in preparation for the election.
Wali noted that about 1,970 ad hoc staff including 28 supervisors and 12 collection officers, are to conduct the election in 281 polling units.
He stressed that card readers and permanent voter cards must be used in all polling units except situations where prospective voters’ biometrics cannot be read by the card reading machines, then incidence forms must be filled.
