President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Transport to adhere strictly to the terms of agreements it entered into for the building and rehabilitation of railways.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Mohammed Sambo Bashar disclosed this in Abuja after meeting with the president at the State House. He said the president was satisfied with the ongoing rehabilitation of railways in the country.
According to him, the ministry presented the programmes, projects and the reforms the ministry undertook in the last couple of years and the stages of the various projects, especially the railway rehabilitation programme as well as development at seaports.
“There are issues that he (the president) thinks we should pay a lot of attention, especially in the execution of agreements that we have entered into. He emphasized on the need to adhere strictly to the terms of agreements and we are going to abide by that.
“Basically, those agreements are relating to the projects we entered into with the construction of railway, standard gauge lines and rehabilitation programmes,” Sambo said.
