The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has donated relief materials worth N9 million to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Adamawa State.
The relief items were in fulfilment of Mr. Ekweremadu’s pledge to the IDPs during his visit to their camps over two weeks ago.
Presenting the items to the Adamawa State governor, Mohammed Bindow, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Usman, said that the items include 1000 pieces of women wrappers, 1000 bales of 10 yards for men and 1000 sets of new clothes for children.
He expressed grief over the situation of the IDPs, and prayed that God will bring an end to the security challenges afflicting the nation.
Mr. Usman also expressed optimism that the action taken by the present administration will no doubt bring an end to Boko Haram attacks in the North East.
While calling for collective prayers from Nigerians for the end of the Boko Haram crisis, the deputy senate president’s aide enjoined well-meaning Nigerians to extend helping hands to the victims of insurgency attacks.
In accepting the gesture, Governor Bindow expressed appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries to Mr. Ekweremadu.
He thanked the deputy senate president for his kindness and also called on well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture.
Bindow described the Ekweremadu as a detribalised and compassionate Nigerian.
The governor then handed over the items to State Emergency Management Agency for judicious distribution to the IDPs at their camps.
