The private visits of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo are not to halt the ongoing anti-corruption war, the presidency said yesterday.
The two former leaders had in the past week secretly visited President Buhari brewing insinuations that they may have gone to see the no-nonsense president to ensure they are safe from the anti-corruption fight.
“The meeting between former Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan with President Buhari were private and confidential. The president can call them for advice. But it will be unfair for anybody to feel or say it was to stop the war against corruption. The war will continue to go on,” said Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in recent weeks questioned several members of Jonathan’s administration. A probe of his administration is also being done by a committee headed by Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomole.
