Pastor E.A Adeboye’s Comment About Being Richer Than Bill Gates; Nigerians React

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG Pastor E.A Adeboye raced to the headlines of most news publications in Nigeria over the weekend following his comment at the church’s 63rd Annual Convention held on Saturday that he is richer than the world’s richest man Bill Gates. The influential man of God gave his reason for saying this. But Nigerians still reacted to the statement anyways. INFORMATION NIGERIA has gathered some of these comments from Nigerians and we’ve put them all together here;

Inufin Gbenga David said ‘yes Daddy G O is richer than Bill Gates in terms of souls he has won into the kingdom of God a soul won to God’s kingdom is worth more than a billion dollar. How many souls has Bill Gates won to God or how many people have been rich through him? Precious Chioma Okafor also supported the fact that Pastor Adeboye is richer than Bill Gates as she said ‘he is not talking about earthly riches. He is rich in God and so richer than Bill Gates… As a matter of fact, I am richer than Bill Gates as well’. Mcdonald Okeke decided to differ with Precious for saying she’s richer than Bill Gates as he said ‘Dey there dey fool yourself. It is true supreme wealth is in christ, but my sister GOD also promised richness for us on earth so make “making money” the second agenda on your list’.

Another supporter of Pastor E.A Adeboye being richer than Bill Gates was Obadasha Micheal Oluwafemi who said ‘Yes Daddy G O is richer than Bill Gates because he is leading millions of souls to God’s kingdom and how many souls is Bill Gates leading to God’s kingdom as at now?’ Victoria Tabugbo however does not agree with the richer than Gates thing as she opined that ‘So what you guys mean is that Bill Gates does not have Jesus in his life… who are you G.O or not to judge people?’

Adebola Adetutu attempted to set the comment straight saying ‘don’t misquote the man. What he said was that putting all the riches of all his members together is more than that of Bill Gates. He has said it in one of his preaching that when he got the call, some of his colleagues in the University advised against it that there is no money in pastoral work. But today all the riches of his members are his. Please don’t spoil the man of God. Even in spiritual aspect he is richer than Bill Gates.

Orderlism Nwagiriga on the other hand attacked the man of God saying ‘why won’t he be richer than Bill Gates after extorting money from the have nots and stealing with the name of God; however he should not forget the biblical injunction “God is not one to be mocked for whatever a man sowed, that he will also reap”. Am certain that by this comment his followers will want to abuse themselves because the truth has been said and its bitter; but I won’t reply cause I know their minds are blinded with falsehood. 2Cor.4:4.’

Mercy Adeyemo threw her weight behind the man of God’s comment saying ‘Yes come to think of it he is richer than Bill Gates because he has many spiritual children that are rich. Invariably if your child or children are rich definitely you are rich. Another thing is if you are not @ the convention please don’t comment, because that comment was just an illustration. Besides I don’t know why Nigerians like to gossip about what does not concern them, are you people Bill Gates? Femi Mikel Adeniji tried to explain the G O’s comment a little, ‘were you at the convention? If you don’t know details please shut up… he said he has a lot of spiritual children all over d world that wishes to bless him with everything he needs and that’s why it’s good to win souls for Christ.’

Abike Adedoyin joined others who have supported the statement that Daddy G.O as Pastor Adeboye is popular called by his members is richer than Bill Gates as she said ‘Of course daddy G.O is richer that Bill Gates, it’s not boasting and even if it’s boasting, it’s boasting in the Lord… who is Bill Gates in God? He is a son of the master of the ruler of the evil world, and daddy Adeboye is a Son of the MOST HIGH GOD’. Nwafor Sunday Peter differed in his comment saying ‘That is an understatement. Bill Gates has touched many lives positively in the world 1000 times more than Adeboye. His wealth came up as a result of people’s individual donations and offerings in ministry’.
