Verification: Kaduna TUC Laments Delay In Payment Of Workers’ Salaries

Nasir-El-RufaiThe Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Kaduna State Council has said it is not against genuine verification exercise of workers in the state civil service to rid the government pay roll of ghost workers.
The TUC Chairman, Comrade Shehu Mohammed, who stated this at a press briefing in Kaduna on Friday, said the Congress is in total support of any move that will ensure the free flow of money from illegal accounts to the government treasury for speedy development of the state.
Mohammed, however, appealed to Governor Nasir El-Rufai to consider the payment of July 2015 salaries and wages of those civil servants of the state that were cleared in June while the second round of the verification exercise in the state continues.
According to him, “The Union is of the opinion that delaying payments of worker’ salaries and wages amounts to tremendous hardship to the workers and their families.
“We considers the outcome of the meeting between the committee of verification exercise and the leadership of the union alongside with banks that were to handle the exercise and we discovered that some of them are not ready.
“In as much as the union remains committed in supporting the government in carrying out its obligatory to the people of Kaduna State it would not be seen as shirking away from its responsibilities to protect the economic well-being of its members in the state”, Comrade Mohammed stated.
