Why We’ve Not Recruited Into Police Force – IG

Solomon-AraseThe Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, has said the Nigeria Police is making frantic efforts to get approval and funds to recruit more personnel into the Force.
He stated this on Wednesday in Abuja during a world media briefing to announce the forthcoming National Summit on Security, put together in conjunction with the Sun Newspapers.
The IG, who was represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said Nigerians desire a mass recruitment of personnel to make up for the huge shortfall of police personnel to secure the large population in the country.
He noted that the summit would address issues affecting the police, adding that the aim of the summit was to let the nation know that everyone had roles to play in policing the country.
Arase said, “We are making moves to have approval for funding to embark on recruitment. Recruitment is good for everybody, it will help the general system. So many youths who are not employed can be recruited and the more number we have, the better.
“But the emphasis of this summit is that every Nigerian is actually a policeman. You have a role to play, there is no way you are going to have policemen enough to police the country. There are many issues plaguing this country now and I know that if you solve the security aspect, a lot more will be appropriately dealt with”.
