The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, has expressed excitement at being able to witness the coronation and public presentation of staff of office to the 51st Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, slated for Monday.
The historic event will be attended by monarchs across Yorubaland, Nigeria and abroad. There are reports Queen Elizabeth II of England, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, among other very important personalities, will attend Oba Ogunwusi’s coronation ceremony.
The 100-year old Olubadan of Ibadan, who expressed delight at being part of the epoch making event, wished the new Ooni a peaceful reign and long life on the throne.
Oba Ogunwusi, a successful real estate magnate and developer, from the Ojaja Royal Compound of Agbedegbede, Giesi Ruling House, Ile-Ife, emerged the 51st Ooni after the passage of Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, who spoke through one of his High Chiefs, the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun said “we see the coronation as a great event for all Yoruba people and we should all rally round to ensure that it goes well and that we all make it a success”.
“The Olubadan further more wishes the new Ooni a great tenure, long life and prosperity”, the Balogun said.
