Mimiko Tasks New Ondo LG Chairmen On Grassroots Development

Olusegun MimikoGovernor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has sworn-in newly elected chairmen for the 18 local government councils in the state.
Mimiko swore-in the new council bosses at the International Events Centre, DOME in Akure, the state capital, on Monday.
The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, ODSIEC, on Sunday declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of the council polls held across the 18 LGAs of the state on Saturday.
The main opposition party in the state, All Progressives Congress, APC, led majority of other political parties to boycott the exercise.
Addressing the new local government chairmen, Governor Mimiko charged them to fast-track more development at the grassroots.
The governor, who said he was particularly happy for another success story recorded by the PDP, urged the council chairmen to justify the confidence reposed in them by voters to provide more dividends of good governance in their council areas.
He also charged them to employ team dynamics and good human management spirit in their administrations.
According to him, “the knowledge that government is a continuum, Council Chairmen must ensure that none of the people oriented projects being inherited now, is abandoned”.
“You will also be expected to display exemplary leadership, transparency and accountability in the conduct of government business.
“As the Chief Security Officers in your domains, maintenance of peace and security in the face of daunting security challenges should be your primary concern.
“You are expected to complement the efforts of the State Government in the pivotal role to ensure the security of lives and property of our citizenry so as to continue with the peace and harmony that currently pervades the state”, Mimiko added.
Responding on behalf of the new chairmen, Chairman Irele Local Government, Hon. Adesanmmi Julius Ilumaro, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and promised to serve their people diligently.
