Five suspects involved in the April 25 midnight invasion of Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have been arrested.
The attack, which left at least 20 people dead, sparked outrage across the Southeast state and beyond.
Confirming the development in a statement Wednesday, the Nigerian police said that operatives of the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) arrested the suspects based on “credible intelligence”.
According to the statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, the IRT arrested Mohammed Zurai, Ciroma Musa, Sale Adamu, Suleiman Laute and Haruna Laute.
Ms. Kolawole, an Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, said the response team also recovered one Gionee L88 mobile phone with memory card containing footage of the massacre in the community.
