The Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has called on security agencies to investigate recent comments by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to the effect that some people are planning to attack him.
Mr. Sheriff had while inaugurating his factional committee for the conduct of gubernatorial primary election in Edo State at his residence in Maitama District, Abuja, last Thursday, alleged that the Makarfi-led caretaker committee deployed herders to invade the PDP national secretariat with the aim of assassinating some members of the dissolved National Working Committee.
He said that the former national secretary of the party, Professor Wale Oladipo and national auditor, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju, escaped the would-be assassins by a hair’s breadth.

”We thank God, the national secretary and the national auditor narrowly escaped”, the embattled former national chairman of the main opposition party was quoted as saying.
Reacting to the allegation, Mr. Makarfi, in a statement by the publicity secretary of his committee, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, said it was not the first time Sheriff was making such claims noting that it could be that the former Borno State governor might be harboring such thoughts about others while choosing to play the victim.
