It’s exactly a year today that the immediate past Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, passed on at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, United Kingdom (U.K).
As part of activities lined up to mark the one year passage of the Paramount Ruler, a memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ayegbaju in Ile Ife.
Dignitaries at the event included the current Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II and his wife Olori Wuraola. Others are wife of former Vice President Titi Abubakar, Gen Oladipupo Diya(Rtd), Senator Babajide Omoworare, Osun state deputy governor Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, former Oyo state governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and others.

The service was followed by a grand reception at the Castle of Mercy, Ede Road, Ile-Ife.
Tomorrow, Friday, July 29, a Colloquium, titled, “The Life and Times of Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, The 50th Ooni of Ife”, will be hosted by The Institute of Cultural Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, at Oduduwa Hall, OAU.
Another reception will follow at Motel Royal, KM 4, Ede Road, Ile-Ife.
